Today Jeremy, Connor and I decided to have an afternoon outing! Connor has gotten to the point where we're finally ready to start taking him out and about again, what better way to reintroduce him to field trips than a visit to the playground and then some back-to-school shopping? We headed down to Bradley Park, and I brought along the camera. Here's a pictorial tour of what we did today:
Savannah's Place, the playground we usually go to in Puyallup, is an amazing fully-accessible play space in Bradley Park, which is about five minutes from our house. Recently it's been overhauled-- repaired, repainted, and added to-- so everything is in tip-top shape. I don't have any statistics, but I would be willing to guess that this is the most-used playground in Puyallup; there's another also-pretty-cool-but-non-accessible playground literally ten feet from Savannah's Place and it's usually nearly deserted. Everyone wants to play at the accessible playground, whether they have mobility issues or not, because it is just so cool. So we got there and after a brief walk around through the woods around the (also accessible) trails, we made a beeline for the swings.
The next part of this is really picture heavy and there's also a video, so I put it after the jump in case you don't want to scroll through it.
They've just installed a brand new accessible swing to replace the old one, which broke a few months ago. This new swing is a little big for Connor . . .
. . . but he didn't care. He had a blast!
After the swings it was off to the percussion section. The playground has all sorts of awesome creative-play spaces for kids that are located at a variety of heights.
I just had to show off Connor's musical talent, so I took a video with my camera. Isn't he a cutie? There's my future bongo player!
Then we had to check out some of the other fun activities, like the bouncy car . . .
. . . bouncing is fun! And the maracas . . .
. . . shake it Connor! After that we hit the slide, which I wasn't able to get any good pictures of because I was at the top launching the little guy so he could whoosh down to where his daddy was waiting. He loves the slide, though, so we spent about twenty minutes going down over and over again. Connor's hair picks up a lot of static on the slide.
A lot of static. He's anticipating the shock I'm going to give him when I pick him up!
Anyway, after that Connor was getting pretty tired, so we took off for the mall where we bought him a new backpack and some school supplies. Connor's old backpack was thrown up on (or on a couple of memorable occasions, in) so it didn't exactly smell wonderful. Those things are kind of hard to wash. So we got him a new one, which he picked out, and then headed back home.
So that was our outing in pictures. We had a great time!

What a great park! And awesome that you (and Connor) are up to being out and about.

Connor's gleeful look on the swings is the BEST! That's what it's all about. I'm so glad the Ativan (sp?) is giving all of you (especially Connor) a break, and that he's (literally!) bouncing back.
My older son saw the pictures and declared, "Let's go to THAT park today!" I'm going to have a hard time convincing him that it will require an airplane trip and hotel stay, so it is out of the picture, lol!
What a nice day for all of you. I LOVE Connor's hair in the slide picture- he is super adorable, as always!
so funny your husbands reaction on the video is so much like mine! love it, love it, love it. thanks for posting.
What a great park. I love the pictures! Connor looks like he had a blast!
